SolarTimes editor Sandy LeonVest (www.solartimes.org) talks to acclaimed permaculture designer, teacher and enthusiast Andrew Faust about a 21st century approach to designing human habitats and agricultural systems known as "permaculture." They talk about how this system, which is modeled on the relationships found in natural ecologies, could transform the 21st century into one that is both environmentally sustainable and humane. They also talk about decentralized energy, distributed generation of renewable energy and retrofitting our centralized energy system to be more regional and self-sufficient. Andrew Faust has been inspiring and motivating students to look at permaculture as a way of life since his days as an alternative school teacher in Glenmoore, Pennsylvania.
